Video 2; Taking a mould from your newspaper skull base
Learn how to take a mould of your Newspaper base to build your tape sculpture skull! 💀
This is the second tutorial to make a skeleton out of tape.
𝙈𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙖𝙡𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪'𝙡𝙡 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙;
- Scissors or a blade (kids, please ask and adult to help you use these!)
- Clingfilm/Plastic Wrap
- Sellotape
Directions;
Using your newspaper base (you can find the video of how to create a base mould under under 'Newspaper Skull Tutorial), follow along with the video to build up your skull using sellotape.
Step 1
Cover your base skull in clingfilm (either one you made yourself out of newspaper or if you already have a mould you can use that!). Tape down all the loose ends and keep layering it on top of the clingfilm base. You'll know you have enough tape layers when it is hard to see the newspaper.
Step 2
Using a blade or pair of scissors, carefully slit your skull from the under the head to between the two eyes. Make sure to ask an adult for help if you need it! Using the hole you have made, take out the newspaper base and any loose pieces of clingfilm.
Step 3
Cut a circle out of the base of your tape skull (this will be your skeletons neck!). Using the scissors, cut out both eye holes
Step 4
Hold together the two sides of the line you cut to get the newspaper base out. Following the video, build up the tape so the only holes on your skull are the eye sockets and neck.
Step 5
Keep adding tape to create detail on your skull - the video will help show you what areas to focus on. The eye sockets give the skull that creepy look! Keep following our page for more videos on how to create your tape sculpture skeleton!

Step 3 Follow the videos guide on how to build up your skeletons hands. Make a piece of tape as your skeletons palm, then wrap a piece of tape back on itself until you have a rough thumb shape. Attach this to the palm and use rolled up balls of tape to define the thumbs' joints. Repeat this process until you have all five fingers in place - you can use your own hand as reference!
